Rory has a shiny new website! Well, it's not that new, but he's been lax on promoting it on his Twitter. It's pretty amusing throughout (the merchandise is especially good), but features a special section on all The Bugles where The American has made an appearance. Check it out!

As you may have seen by his Tweet, Rory is in the running for Comedy Central's Stand-Up Showdown and you can vote for him! Do The American proud!

In addition to the The Bugle's official Twitter account @hellobuglers, there's a new Twitter account for (you guessed it) @BuglesAmerican. Interestingly, Rory (@roryalbanese) happens to follow him.

My apologies if you've seen this before, but if you haven't, it's worth a watch.

Rory Albanese and the rest of the writers of The Daily Show recently did a Q&A at a book-signing for Earth: The Book and the whole deal can be found here).

One of my favorite parts involves Jon Stewart and especially Rory's handling of some particularly rude (ugh) 9/11 Truther protesters. They drop in around 4:09.

And Rory bids them good day.

Pic credit goes to the awesome aybara_max (who was actually attended the signing!) who is also responsible for pointing me in the direction of the filmed Q&A.

Apologies to NoFactZoners that have already seen this-- but it's so cute! Stephen kissing Rory! Rory uttering stuff that'll no doubt get him a smack off camera! (HelLOOO, Evie Colbert!) How friggin' adorable is Jen Flanz?! (notice how she and Rory didn't really do a "serious" couple picture?) And Larry Wilmore at the beginning!

In a rather disappointing Emmys (in my opinion, of course), it's nice to have a cute vid like this to hoard. Hope you enjoy.

Old news, but I'm just hearing about it.

New York magazine had a couple of The Daily Show guys (including Rory Albanese) talk about the infamous Jezebel article and Wyatt Cenac makes several particularly good points.

Read it here.

Oldish-but-relevant interview (sorta) from The Jacksonville Observer:

Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” has been surprising some of its audience of late, tweaking the Obama administration and various other Democrats — which means it’s time to take a fresh look at “The Daily Show” for what it is, to hear the show’s Rory Albanese tell it.

“I think people thought we were just this left-wing group that were going after the Bush administration, but in reality, we’re the wise-asses in the back of the classroom making fun of the people in charge. At first, the audience was like, ‘What are you doing?’ but Obama was screwing up a lot so it was fun to change the tone of the show. None of us really have political allegiances,” he adds. “We’re just thinking about how we can make things funny.”

Albanese makes things funny in his own first Comedy Central special, airing tonight (4/2). He tells us performing in front of his boss proved to be quite nerve-wracking. “I was extra nervous because a lot of family and friends were there as well as a lot of co-workers. With Jon Stewart standing in the back, you don’t want to bomb,” notes Albanese.

He says Stewart couldn’t have been more supportive. “Before the show, he came by the green room to give me a pep talk. He gets comedy on every level — as a writer, as a producer and as a performer — so to have him in my corner is unbelievable. I work hard on his show, and I work hard in stand-up so I never want to let him down in either.”

Jon standing in the back? Who wants to join me in a collective "AWWWW!"?

Just a reminder that Rory's stand-up special premiers TONIGHT on Comedy Central on (as Jon Stewart himself pointed out) the timeslot in which you can catch The Daily Show on Monday through Friday. More info here and for our friends outside the USA, I'm sure someone can hook up with a torrent, y/y?

This comm's been fairly quiet, but a lot of Rory news has been happening!

Rory's primed for his very own Comedy Central special April 2nd at 11pm! He's garnered Tweets from John Hodgman and producer Miles Kahn both about Rory's Twitter and the special. Watch them both (if you're not following Rory's Twitter already)!

Also, at long last, Rory has a Wiki entry! About damn time, too.

Rory and his fellow TDS writers (including John Oliver and Wyatt Cenac) tackle the really stupid question of "How to Make Obama Funny" a few days after the election. Interesting to see a year after the fact, no?

Sweet interaction between Rory and Wyatt, too. ^_^

My apologies for having to visit the actual site; I could not locate an embed code on the damn thing and thus far no one has ripped it off and YouTubed it (anyone?).
